PLAYING AIX ONLINE ON AIX COOP RANKED SERVERS (16.01.2008 by BlackBears1):

In order to see your AIX rank, badges, medals, ribbons and that kind of stuff ingame in your BFHQ, you have to make a DNS-Fix on your PC or Notebook/Laptop. Please listen: Read the following instructions carefully and use your head ;). Think twice before you delete or change stuff - don't blame us, if you mess up your system !!

Especially read 11. if you want to play on Ranked Servers again!

If you don't want to mess around with installing a DNS program on your gaming rig - no problem! You won't see your rank ingame then and you won't see all the awards in BFHQ, which you have got in AIX. BUT all your data is still stored in our database. No need to worry. To see your progress, rank and awards use Leaderboard - Top 100 instead :).

For the folks who want to see their AIX ranking ingame, in BFHQ, here we go:

SETUP FOR AIX-ONLINE:
1. Download TreeWalk DNS HERE.
2. Download the TreeWalk Configuration Files for our AIX Server HERE.
3. Install TreeWalk DNS with Basic Defaults Setup.
4. After installation of TreeWalk DNS reboot your computer.
5. After restart go to "Start" -> "Programs" -> "TreeWalk" -> "service" -> "Stop DNS service"
3. Unzip the downloaded etc.zip (Configuration Files above) to the dns-directory of TreeWalk, for example C:\Windows\System32\dns\etc - check for the appropriate directory on your machine.



4. Overwrite the existing "filter.conf" when a pop-up box asks for confirmation.
5. Start TreeWalk again: "Start" -> "Programs" -> "TreeWalk" -> "service" -> "Start DNS service".
6. Flush DNS Cache: "Start" -> "Programs" -> "TreeWalk" -> "tools" -> "Flush DNS cache".
7. Open a DOS box with "cmd" and type: ping bf2web.gamespy.com
8. You should get as responding IP the IP of BlackCats' AIX server: 87.106.138.87



9. Close it, you are ready to start AIX - have fun!

11. IMPORTANT: FOR PLAYING BF2 (VANILLA, SF2 etc.) AND BF2142 ON RANKED SERVERS, YOU HAVE TO SWITCH TREEWALK OFF BEFORE YOU START YOUR GAME !!! USE TREEWALK WITH THOSE SETTINGS ONLY FOR PLAYING ON OUR SERVER !!!

TROUBLESHOOTING:
1. Most important: The result of pinging bf2web.gamespy.com has to be 87.106.138.87 - mandatory! If that fails, then your local DNS setting is NOT working.
2. Check the network properties of your network card (NIC): 127.0.0.1 has to be your primary/preferred DNS server.
3. The secondary/alternative DNS server has to be your router or equivalent, e.g. 192.168.2.1



4. If you can't get it working for you, come into our Teamspeak 87.106.138.87:8767 and ask for BlackBears1 :)
